Your Options for a New Bathroom Countertop

We find that one of the bathroom components homeowners are most selective about during a remodel is the countertop. A quality bathroom countertop can add to the resale value, and it can also make it easier to clean and maintain. Call a local remodeling contractor to learn more, or read on to find out about the most common bathroom countertop choices.

Granite

Granite adds a beautiful elegant touch to any countertop. While this stone is generally ranked the highest for quality, it’s also at the top of the price range for a countertop.

Marble

Marble has a different look and feel to it than granite. The pattern is similar, but often a little less busy than a granite countertop. Marble has a sleek look and feel, but it does require a little more maintenance than a granite countertop, since you have to clean up spills quickly and clean more often to prevent staining.

Laminate

Laminate countertops are something that most contractors try to avoid. It’s an economical choice, but over time, it will wear down. On the other hand, it’s easy to clean and care for, and relatively easy for your contractor to install.

Tiles

Tiles may be in popular use in many bathrooms, but that doesn’t mean they are always the best choice. One major reason to avoid tiles on the bathroom counter, or any surface of the home if you can manage, is that the grout in between the tiles gets rather difficult to clean.

Glossy Wood

You could even go for a vintage-style wooden countertop, but we don’t recommend this without a glossy finish on top of it. This can contribute to a rustic look and feel that makes a house feel like home.
